This project for Total and CDC involved the construction of two new data centre buildings. Green Civil Australia was engaged to complete the civil works for Brooklyn Data Centre project.  

The scope of works included:

BK1

  • Demolition of existing structures, pavements and footings
  • Site clearance
  • Recycling of demolished concrete and asphalt
  • Bulk earthworks for data centre building and external pavements (60,000m3 cut and fill)
  • Construction of building pad and surrounding external pavements using crushed rock (70,000m2)
  • Detail excavation of switch rooms
  • External heavy-duty concrete pavements including subgrade, sub-base, base and concrete (5,000m2)
  • External asphalt pavements including subgrade, sub-base, base and asphalt (6,000m2)
  • External hardstand pavements - including subgrade, sub-base, and base (2,000m2)
  • Kerb only, kerb and gutter, edge strip, dish drains
  • Subsoil drainage works

BK2

  • Erosion and sediment control
  • Site clearance
  • Construction of temporary infrastructure including concrete slabs and roadways
  • Bulk earthworks for data centre building and external pavements (35,000m3 cut and fill)
  • Construction of piling pad using crushed rock (40,000T)
  • Remediation works including installation of a capping layer and the removal of 30,000T of contaminated material

The project entailed intricate site management and was completed in close proximity to live underground utilities.
